Jesus could not have chosen a more diverse group of guys to be part of his discipleship group (talmidim). Seriously, it’s mind blowing when you begin to understand how vastly different these guys were. By pulling them together into his talmidim, Jesus was teaching them to the value the journey in each other, and ultimately in all people. Only when we see ourselves in others will we be able to love them well, and live into a posture of patience and acceptance.
