Crooked to Straight

Key Passage(s):

We learn from the life of Jacob that until we’ve owned up to who we’ve been, we cannot become who we need to be. Prior to a bizarre story of Jacob wrestling with an angel, he lived a deceitful and crooked life. Following the wrestling match, he owns up to his name and God changes it to “Israel,” which at its root means, “straight.” God desired Jacob to move from a crooked life to one of wholeness and integrity. God desires this for all of us as well.
