IMPACT REPORT

2024

Transforming the way people experience the Bible by understanding its original context.

Walking The Text Community,

It’s hard to believe we’re wrapping up 7 years as a ministry! As you brilliant Bible people know, the number 7 signifies completion, and this year feels like the close of one powerful chapter and the beginning of another. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all He has done. We never could have imagined the reach this ministry would have, inspiring people just like you to deepen their understanding of God’s Word and to follow Jesus with greater passion and faithfulness.

Reflecting on 2024, we made monumental progress with The Sacred Thread, and we’re thrilled to be on the verge of launching this global television series and film in collaboration with Evolve Studios and Mark Burnett (one of the world’s largest television producers)! This thrilling endeavor will allow us to reach even more people around the world, bringing the stories and truths of the Bible to life in fresh and powerful ways. We’re so grateful for your partnership in making this possible, and everything else at Walking The Text. We couldn’t do this work without your generosity and participation!

With Gratitude & Joy,

The Sacred Thread

This summer’s filming for The Sacred Thread was extraordinary—made possible by your generosity and prayers. From Israel to Jordan, Houston, Oxford, and Athens, God opened doors for unprecedented access to stunning locations and inspiring conversations.

You made this journey possible, and we can’t wait to show you what your support is creating. Watch the video for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look and see how your generosity is bringing Jesus’s story to life!

The Teaching Series

200 Episodes! 200 Episodes!

200 Episodes! 200 Episodes!

Thanks to your partnership, we reached a major milestone in 2024 by releasing our 200th Teaching Series episode! These short, bi-weekly video teachings about 15-20 minutes in length (also available as a podcast) are helping people study the Bible and understand its original context all over the globe. They’re phenomenal tools for personal use, small groups, and, as you’ll see later in this report, even businesses! Each episode is accompanied by discussion questions, and, at times, additional resources for going deeper. 2024 has been a year of significant growth, expanding our reach on YouTube with series on 3 Gifts of Christmas, Life in the Roman Empire, and one of our most viewed series ever—Out of Context.

This teaching touched me, well almost slapped me in the face. My husband passed away 6 months ago after a long illness. I have found it difficult to be around a lot of people, especially going to church without him. This teaching made so much sense to me and let me know I am focusing on me and my pain too much and need to be around people who love me and support me. I look forward to the rest of the teaching on Ruth.

Study Trips

As a supporter of Walking The Text, you’re making an impact on thousands of people. We’re consistently blown away by the stories of what God is doing in people’s lives through The Teaching Series and our Study Trips.

Study Trips in Challenging Times

Since our inception, study trips to Bible lands have been a key way we help people understand the Bible in its original context. Though the war in the Middle East forced us to cancel all trips to Israel in 2024, God allowed us to lead a powerful trip to Turkey. This trip included several key leaders, pastors, and future trip facilitators from other organizations, providing a unique opportunity to multiply the impact of this experience.

As these leaders explored biblical sites like Ephesus, Pergamum, and Pisidian Antioch, they were equipped to deepen their faith and bring these insights back to their churches and ministries. This trip will have a lasting impact as these leaders share what they’ve learned with others, extending the reach of our mission to many more people in the years ahead.

Watch Jason’s Story:

These trips were life-changing in the truest sense of the word. I have read the Bible daily for decades, and yet the text came alive in a new way during each and every session. Brad’s ability to teach us how to engage the Bible in the context of the land and its culture, forever changes the way you read, understand and live out God’s word. The adventures were outstanding and the entire experience was world class. Walking The Text trips are hands down the most impactful learning experiences of my life.

Your Partnership = Transformative Impact

Nothing holds meaning without context. Thanks to your generosity, hundreds of thousands around the world are discovering the Bible’s original context in ways that transform lives.

As you’ve seen in this year’s impact report, your support has enabled us to deliver high-quality teaching through compelling media that’s reaching and resonating with global audiences. Even more exciting, we are hearing from the next generation who are deepening their faith and eager to share what they’ve learned. Praise God!

Though the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has paused our Study Trips, it has not stopped our mission. Together, we’re finding new ways to bring the Scripture to life and reach people through innovative means.

But we’re only just getting started.

That’s why we’re asking for your continued partnership. Your support will help us complete The Sacred Thread Season 1 and our upcoming theatrical production, expand our Teaching Series (now over 200 episodes), and—God willing—revive our Study Trips to the Bible Lands. This means reaching leaders, teachers, and believers exactly where they are, all because of you.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to making this impact possible. Together, we are not just spreading knowledge; we are transforming hearts and communities.

When you support Walking The Text, you can be confident that God’s Word, shared in its context, will never return void.

Shaping The Next Generation

More and more young adults and students are being inspired by the original context of the Bible. After learning about the original context of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, sixth grader James Wombles had this to say:

Thank you so much for coming to Family Camp and sharing with us! I learned a lot, but the thing that really stuck with me was when you talked about identity. Identity is a bold topic. It’s cool to think that we’re created in God’s image and each of us has a unique way to show His glory to the world.

I’m glad I got to hear your talks because they made me think a lot. I want to make sure I remember who I am in Jesus. Thank you for helping me see how I can reflect God’s glory in my own life!

Multiplying Impact

Thad DeBuhr

Thad, a digital missionary inspired by his trip to Turkey and the example of Paul, has been using The #1 Mistake Most Everyone Makes Reading the Bible to teach pastors and amplify the impact of biblical context worldwide. Through his ministry, which includes daily live Bible podcasts and Journey Groups, Thad equips over 300 people daily with contextual teaching. He has also shared The #1 Mistake Most Everyone Makes Reading the Bible with pastors in Kenya, creating “How to Teach the Bible in Context” classes, and is partnering with Pastor Rajesh in Eastern India to train over 1,600 pastors. Together, they are exploring ways to translate the e-Book into the Telugu language to help even more pastors!

Bethel Community Education

Amy Zwiep

Bethel Community Education is a Christ-centered PreK-8th grade school, equipping students to grow spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally through a journey of discipleship and discovery. Rooted in biblical truth, Bethel emphasizes that all learning points back to God as the source of all truth and calls students to bring the hope of Christ to a broken world. This year, Bethel is incorporating the Six Lenses of Context into its Bible curriculum, helping students explore Scripture in its original historical, cultural, and literary settings. These tools inspire awe and wonder for the Creator while supporting the school’s mission to empower students in their faith and learning.

“Thank you for the incredible work you do to equip believers with a deeper understanding of God’s Word. Since discovering your resources, I’ve been able to preach and teach with greater clarity, and we’ve seen lives transformed as people move beyond head knowledge to a personal walk with God. Your materials have not only impacted our church—where leaders and volunteers are growing spiritually—but also schools and workplaces. For example, we adapted your teaching series on Sabbath to help a local Japanese company address employee burnout and high turnover, and the impact has been extraordinary. Your content has been a blessing, making the Bible clear, relevant, and life-changing in so many contexts. May God continue to bless and grow your ministry.”
