Words of Life and Death
The book of James is comprised of short, punchy, practical sermonettes that are in response to problems within the larger community James is writing to. In Chapter 3, James addresses the destructive nature of our words. He understands that words have the power of life and death, and too often, people lack the maturity to use their words in a consistent and controlled way. So James hits the problem head-on, and this teaching does the same in a helpful, hopeful, and life-giving way. It’s a message we all need to hear and be challenged by – myself included.
