As Paul is addressing the Colossian believers, he indicates that the greatest threat to hijacking the message of Jesus doesn’t come from outside the church, but from inside. Paul knows the message of Jesus can be stifled in the midst of discouragement, dissension and disunity among the people themselves. If the message of Jesus is going to flourish, the members of his community must live united.
