Most of us have an unhealthy relationship with busyness. Busyness is a red badge of courage in our society, and yet it is toxic and slowing eroding our souls. More than 2400 years ago, Socrates warned, “Beware of the barrenness of a busy life.” The same warning is in effect today. Jesus, however, knew how to balance the demands of life and the expectations of others. And it was his rhythm of rest that allowed him to say “no” to the good things so that he could say “yes” to the best things.
