Episode 076 – Be Strong and Courageous
Key Passage(s): Joshua 1:9; John 14:27; John 16:33
Over and over again in the Bible, we hear the command, “Do not fear.” But what is this command really getting at? Is it simply that we’re never to experience fear, and if we do, we’re disobeying God in some way? Or is there more to it? Fear can be a paralyzing reality in our lives. But it can also be a gift. It all depends on how we engage it. That’s why in this episode, we explore the nature of fear, how it negatively impacts us, and how we can leverage courage to move through it to do what we know we need to do but have struggled to do so.

Great words Brad. To always remember God is with me so I need not fear. When you were talking about the edge of a mountain it made me smile as I remembered you teaching on the edge of the mountain above the Quorum caves and couldn’t concentrate until you moved away! I was fearing for you. Guess your son is like his dad! ????
Haha! That event left a significant mark on other participants as well 🙂
I am working on being physically healthy and quitting smoking. A daily reminder that God is with me all the time through this journey gives me encouragement, strength and courage to keep going and don’t give up. Thank you Brad for this teaching.
You are most welcome, Crystal.
Brad, I am so grateful for you ministry and specifically for this episode. Fear does paralyze people. I know it firsthand. Have you considered doing a series on this subject, going over all the major scripture references on fear? I would appreciate it greatly if we could dig deeper into the subject of overcoming fear.
Hey Sophie, I’ll add it to the list of possible series’ for the future.
I noted the conditions about obeying the TORAH in order to be strong and courageous? Joshua 1:7 is very clear yet we read right over it-it’s conditional?
Isn’t there a time for any Israelite to present ones self to YEHOVAH and it was at one of these times that Joshua heard YEHOVAH speak as if by his side? A very present voice not a whisper?
Implication seems to be just out of nowhere YEHOVAH speaks.
