Episode 085 – Parable of the Good Samaritan Pt 2: Shift The Focus

Key Passage(s): Luke 10:28-33

So often, we allow fear or inconvenience drive our response to someone who is in need. In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, we meet a priest and Levite who fail to help a man who is in great need. But a Samaritan does what they were unable or unwilling to do. The priest and Levite were more focused on the implications for themselves than they were for the implications of this man. In this episode, we unpack the stunning details of this remarkable story, and why we must shift the focus from ourselves to others in order to be the kind of neighbor Jesus is challenging us to become.

  1. Brad,
I love your teachings! I’ve caught up and am now rewatching them as I wait for new releases! You never fail to give “Aha” moments in every one!
This one hits home hard. The Holy Spirit moved me to give a few weeks ago in a financial way that gave a person the ability for a fresh start. She had been faithful to God, doing all the right things, working hard, but unable to overcome one last obstacle. No one in her life had the means to give financially. I watched this for three months. I couldn’t escape my thoughts of ” if she fails and I had means to intervene- I’ll never forgive myself”. I’m not wealthy, far from it. I’m just an average working person. But I knew God wanted me to take her the money. It wasn’t hard, even though it was almost all of my savings. I trust God with everything. I loved your phrase “Shift The Focus”. Thank you, Brad. God has surely blessed you with this gift of teaching! Thank you for answering his calling!
