Our Father Ep. 66 22:29
The Lord’s Prayer Pt 2

Our Father

Calling God “Our Father” would have carried enormous weight in Jesus’s world. Those two words invite us into a deeply personal relationship and mission.
Always Near Us Ep. 67 23:28
The Lord’s Prayer Pt 3

Always Near Us

God is not distant or confined to some faraway heaven. Jesus reminds us that our Father is near, present, and active in the circumstances of our lives.
Holy Be Your Name Ep. 68 22:28
The Lord’s Prayer Pt 4

Heaven Comes Here Ep. 69 26:35

“Your kingdom come” is not about escaping earth for heaven. It’s a prayer for God’s reign, goodness, and ways to become more real here and now.

Our Daily Bread

“Give us our daily bread” teaches us to bring real needs before God and trust Him one day at a time rather than trying to secure everything ourselves.

The Lord’s Prayer Pt 9

Own It

The Lord’s Prayer was meant to become more than familiar words. Practicing it can slowly reshape the way we think, pray, live, and follow Jesus.

About this series

So many of us are discouraged by prayer. We know it’s important. We want to do it. But a lot of us don’t know where to start. Which is why Jesus cut through all the confusion and second-guessing and gave his disciples a specific prayer to pray. It’s like he says, “stop worrying about how to do it. Do it like this.” Furthermore, this prayer summarized the entirety of Jesus’ mission, and what his followers were called to do in the world. It’s why Jesus wanted his disciples to pray it on a regular basis. So if Jesus thought it was that important, then maybe we should just trust our prayer to him and immerse ourselves in the one prayer he gave us.

This 9-part series will explore the cultural and contextual background of the Lord’s Prayer. By the end of this series you’ll have greater confidence in your prayer life because you’ll have a deeper sense of what mattered to Jesus. By understanding the depth and brilliance of each line of the prayer, you’ll be inspired to pray more intentionally, live more faithfully, and love Jesus more fully.
