Jewish Educational System Ep. 117 24:48
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 2

Jewish Educational System

The Jewish education system behind Jesus’s world was demanding and rigorous. That background makes His invitation, “Come, follow me,” even more remarkable.
Being Like Jesus Ep. 119 22:49
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 3

Being Like Jesus

Discipleship is more than believing the right things. Following Jesus means learning to see, think, speak, and live more and more like our Rabbi.
Walking On Water Ep. 120 20:55
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 4

Walking On Water

Peter walking on water is not just a story about a miracle. It is a story about discipleship, risk, and trusting that God equips the people He calls.
Having Authority Ep. 121 22:50
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 5

Having Authority

Jesus carried an authority His disciples understood in ways we often miss. That authority shapes both the Great Commission and what it means to follow Him.
Jesus’s Occupation Ep. 122 22:06
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 6

Jesus’s Occupation

Jesus’s occupation was not a random detail. His trade and the economics of rabbinic life show how God can use ordinary preparation for extraordinary purposes.
A Difficult Lifestyle Ep. 123 21:57
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 7

A Difficult Lifestyle

Following a rabbi in Jesus’s world was physically demanding and costly. The lifestyle reminds us that following Jesus is worth pursuing even when it is hard.
Jesus’s Yoke Ep. 124 24:23
Rabbis and Disciples Pt 8

Jesus’s Yoke

Jesus’s invitation to take His “yoke” sounded far more radical in a rabbinic world than it may sound to us. It is demanding, personal, and deeply compelling.

About this series

One of the biggest mistakes we make as followers of Jesus is believing we have him figured out. That can leave people feeling like they’ve been there, done that, and heard it all before. But life in Jesus is anything but monotonous! If the Scriptures teach us anything, it’s that with Jesus there is always more to discover and be challenged by. And we believe one of the best ways to stay in touch with the surprising newness and challenge of Jesus is by understanding that he came as a Jewish rabbi (Sage). In this mini-series, Rabbis and Disciples, we’ll explore how understanding this aspect of who Jesus was can transform us into more effective disciples. By the end of this series, you’ll be inspired and challenged to experience the life God desires for us all.
