Episode 074 – Weight Distribution

Key Passage(s): Genesis 2:18; Galatians 6:2

We often carry our burdens alone. Maybe we don’t want others to know what we’re going through. Maybe we don’t want to burden anyone with our burdens. Whatever the reasons may be, we don’t distribute them verywell. And when we do this, the weight of carrying our burdens alone becomes an endeavor that leaves us weary and discouraged, with very little hope that anything will change. We cannot carry them alone. Indeed, we weren’t designed to.

Discussion Questions

  • What was your biggest takeaway from the teaching?
  • Which way is the triangle pointing in your life?
  • If it’s pointing down, with all of the weight on you, why is that? Do you struggle to share your burdens with others?
  • When it comes to your worries, anxieties, struggles, or burdens, do you find yourself dealing with them in any of the unhealthy ways discussed in the teaching – denying, downplaying, or drowning them out?
  • If you struggle to distribute the weight, what do you feel you need to do? How can you invite God and others (the right people) to help you distribute the weight?
  • How will you begin living out the truths of this teaching this week?

  1. We are part of Christian Heallthcare Ministries. Each month they highlight someone who is carrying a heavy burden and invite its members to reach out with words of encouragement. I like to include scripture so Galatians 6:2 is perfect. Thank you for this message.

  2. This is why Recovery Programs are so important.
As a Recovery coach we are constantly trying to help people find “accountability partners” or “Recovery sponsors” also to have that Recovery group around you to support you through whatever junk it is that you are dealing with.
One of our goals at Embrace Recovery is to help people find God in the midst of the junk “weight” that they are dealing with. Knowing He is there not to punish you but with an outstretched hand for you to grasp onto as He leads you or even just walks beside you through it all. Sometimes He does that in the form of others but rest assured, God is there to help.

  3. My dear friend that’s in recovery has started HeartbeatsandHope4Humanity on Facebook to help with the weight of our daily lives and our pasts. It is full of encouragement and there are other people to speak to who has carried heavy weights as well. It is Christian based. It is to be in community and learn to bring hope to ALL Humanity and for that hope to be passed on. I am going to ask the founder to post this teaching on his page. I believe it is good for those that need it. Thank you Brad for this teaching!
