Episode 023 – Divine In The Daily

Key Passage(s): Exodus 3:1-5

We generally look for God in the big things, and yet, I believe God is most available to us in the everyday, humdrum activities of life. The problem is, we’re unaware as we speed through life, not slowing down long enough to notice the miracles in our midst and to encounter the divine in the daily. God woke Moses up to this reality, and I believe God wants to do the same for you and me.

Thank you Brad for another insightful message. I missed the full moment of loving communication with my 6 year old granddaughter yesterday. I was deeply involved working on a project in my shop when she came through the door precariously balancing two small plastic slices of cake on two small plates. Though I greeted her with love and surprise and pretended to eat the cake I really missed a grand opportunity. I should have completely stopped what I was doing, it wasn’t that important, and layed out two paper towels, pulled up stools to the workbench and took more time with her. Here she was being so kind and thoughtful to bring me a slice of cake and wanting to be with me but I fully missed the full opportunity.

Brad, this lesson was great and, for the circles I run in, worthy of 3 or 4 teaching lessons. I was reminded of Gen 28:16 – ” Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” The insight that Moses needed to slow down (I need to start with one less coffee each morning, seriously) in order to see what God was doing, was great for me. The second point was equally encouraging. That everything is Holy, it is merely whether or not I see it. Holly and I love the song (Holy Now) and added it to our playlist. Thank you for sharing the insights you have shared through this Series.

Hey Brad, thank you for that. Slowing down and paying attention is something I have known for quite some time I needed to do yet couldn’t. Other than doing it for myself, my children, and my employees you have now given me a more important reason to slow down…for God!

Yes! Fantastic. Thanks for sharing this, Jason.

Great teaching Brad, bless God. My life verse is “Be still and know I am God”. I think that sums up what you were teaching, may I get still in most moments and see God in them. 🙂 Thank you for this blessing.

Brad, another greet teaching. I’m learning how to slow do and pay more attention to those “significant” moments with my kids, husband, and co-workers. Love that passage from Exdous 3, never thought of it that way. This is way I look forward to these weekly teachings. You’ve helped me become more intentionally with my Bible study and now definitely becoming more aware of my surroundings. Thanks.

These teachings have slowed me down so much I hear and see God every where, it’s beyond words. Thank you for the song, it’s added to my playlist and I will listen to it often as it speaks volumes to me. I love happy, blissful tears!

I get up at 4 for devotions and my sacred time alone before I go to the gym. I love that the city is dark and asleep as I drive. I always get to soak up the beauty of the sky, the moon and/or stars, and marvel at his creations I get to enjoy. And, I work in an office on a large horse farm. It’s magnificent and I often pray that I never get so used to it that I cease to revel in his creations. I love your teachings, and they are my daily devotional since I discovered them through our pastor Brad Nelson. Thank you!

Psalm 24:1 in modern texts, traditional texts, Hebrew texts states that the earth is the LORD’s – belongs to Him- the people and everything in it – likewise BELONG to Him. A “mystic Kabbalist “ Rabbi’s opinion that Yahweh is not only owner but IN every thing is a pantheistic stretch. I remain unconvinced in his conclusion because of where the trail leads.

Agreed. Orthodox Christianity has always held that God is distinct from His creation, and therefore has never held to a pantheistic view.
