When the Exalted Exalt

Psalm 113 is a psalm of utter praise to God, and the psalmist implores us to praise Him. But the question becomes, “Why praise the LORD?” This psalm seeks to answer this question by highlighting who God is and what God does. In the words of the psalmist, “The LORD is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens.” God is a God who is high and exalted over all things. But then the psalmist goes on to inform us that in God’s humility, He reaches into our personal situations and exalts us. So the exalted exalts. Which leads us to ask, “Do we embody God’s exalting to others?” Because when the exalted exalt, extraordinary things happen.
