Every year at Central, we do a 90-minute Christmas Experience where we bring out all the stops. This is the one for this year. Although its own stand alone experience, it does build upon the previous three weeks of our “Refugee” series, where we’ve been exploring how the Israelite heritage and the events surrounding Jesus’ birth are grounded in a refugee reality. Joseph, Mary, and Jesus were political refugees, on the run from the evil tyrant of Herod the Great, who was unleashing terror, oppression, and violence upon those in Bethlehem and the surrounding area. God sends them to Egypt, and all of a sudden, we are met with the reality that God is up to a New Exodus, and it’s an Exodus for the whole world. Enjoy this Christmas Experience!
